South America is growing on the urbanfields map, with the neighbouring countries of Uruguay and Argentina now represented alongside Chile and Ecuador.

With Montevideo and Buenos Aires, Franz Ermel adds some beautiful fields with two of South America's greatest cities, pictured from a rather unusual and sometimes poetic perspective.

Genoa and Olbia have been added to the urbanfields.net fields section, finally putting Italy on the urbanfields map.

Genoa is courtesy of M. Lehmeee, who provides some beautiful photographs of this fascinating Italian port city.

Zera and myself explored Olbia on a recent holiday. Olbia lies in the north-east of Sardinia and is one of its largest cities.

Urbanfields.net just received a further update in the fields section, as Luisa Santos provides us with her take on London. Her reoccuring theme is windows and her London field holds a new look at some familiar sites along the river Thames.

In addition to Tehran which has been up on urbanfields.net for some time, its neighbouring city Esfahan (also known as Isfahan) has been added. The Pictures were taken by Franz Ermel and Michel Schneider in July 2005. At the same time Michel Schneider provides a further update to the Barcelona fields.

Esfahan is a good bit smaller and a more 'rural' city than Tehran. The Esfahan field offers a fragmented yet compelling insight into everyday life in an Iranian city. Together with the Tehran fields, we get a good idea of the strange mix between tradition and modern life that dominates urban Iran.

The Barcelona fields update, is a view on Barcelona with more attention to detail than the previous fields. This time we get a glimpse at market stalls and street art alongside the high-rise views.

The magnificent city of Tehran has been added to the urbanfields.net fields-section. Franz Ermel and Michel Schneider took the pictures on a trip to Tehran this July. Bilbao: formerly a major port city, then decaying industry, and now back in blossom full of modern architecture in a fascinating setting between the green hills of the Basque country

Bilbao is a surprisingly versatile city, sprawling between and over the surrounding hills and along the Nervión River through the suburbs into the harbour with now merely historic importance. With the airport built by Santiago Calatrava in 2000, the Metro designed by Norman Foster between 1988 and 1995 and Gehry's Guggenheim Museum (1997) to name only the most prominent, Bilbao transformed itself into a showcase for modern architecture in the last twenty years. What makes this city architecturally even more interesting, is the combination of contemporary architecture with a large number of very interesting 50s and 60s residential buildings. Bilbao seems to have come back from the brink of decay with an impulse that came from the focus on Art and Architecture.
